Ruth Dunsky is a Montreal visual artist.

My art is inspired by the beauty that I see all around me in nature and in the faces and expressions of people. A strong influence on my work is my love for music and dance. The graceful shapes and movement created by music and dance serve to inspire my paintings.

Ruth began her art studies while at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia).  Later, she took classes with several artists before deciding to study Interior Design at Dawson College.

During her more than 20 years as an interior designer, she pursued her interest in art whenever time allowed by taking classes at the Sadie Bronfman Centre for the Arts until the school closed.

After retiring from her interior design career, Ruth put her energies into painting and studied with Rita Briansky and other Montreal artists.  Between 2015 and 2018, she participated annually in summer workshops at St. Lawrence College in Ontario.

Ruth has worked in oils, pastels, and currently in acrylics.  She also enjoys drawing. More recently, she has been experimenting with expressive paintings of dancers.

Ruth has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Montreal since 2005 as well as solo shows.  She exhibits with the Women's Art Studio of Montreal, the Women's Art Society of Montreal, as well as Artists in Montreal.  She also participates in group shows in Florida.
